The class combines movement, stretching, breath work, meditation and sound baths to unwind and relax. This is an all levels class with the option to be fully supported with a chair. Please bring a yoga mat and any other props you may need to be comfortable. Learn more at Shelley’s website.
Each class is $15 per session. Financial support/sponsorship is available—just ask.
Qigong
On Mondays (at 5:30pm) and Fridays (at 6:30pm), Scott Johnson’s Qigong Class offers a different kind of centering. “Qigong is both calming and vitalizing,” Scott says. “Your stress transforms into vitality.” Modeled on teachings of Taoist Master Manak Chia, Qigong uses calming practices—such as breathing and simple movements—to build strength and energy. Scott assures potential students that the class is accessible for all ages and fitness levels and includes “no acrobatics.” He adds that Qigong boosts health, including heart and kidney function. Chair options are also available. He asks you bring a yoga mat and clean socks. No experience is necessary, and if you feel like checking out Qigong for the first time, the first class is free. Qigong kicks off its first class this Friday, January 31st.
