When a nearby dance studio closed its doors, two Cannon Beach moms took it upon themselves to keep the music going.
Beginning in their local learning "pod," the moms--Ashley Nelson and Shelby Gosser--developed an introductory course. And when they saw just how much the children were enjoying the class, they decided to offer it to the wider community.
The class, for ages 4 to 6, meets weekly on Wednesdays at 3PM. It focuses on understanding rhythm, basic techniques and coordinated dances. Rather than an traditional, exacting ballet school, this class is designed to help young learners appreciate music, movement, gain confidence and have fun.
The class will be conducted safely, in accordance with state and CDC guidelines, including mask wearing by teachers and all students aged 5 and up.
Also, class size is limited and may be at capacity. RSVP is required prior to attending. To RSVP, email tolovnaartscolony@gmail.com or call 541-215-4445.
Tuition is $30 per month.
The class meets at Tolovana Hall in Cannon Beach (3779 S. Hemlock) and is produced by the Tolovana Arts Colony. For more information, visit tolovanaartscolony.org, email tolovanaartscolony@gmail.com or call 541-215-4445.
